Fundamental Policies for Canon Americas
Environmental Assurance

economic and social interests in all business
activities, products and services; offer products
with lower environmental burden through innovative
improvements in resource efficiency; and eliminate
anti-social activities that threaten the health and
safety of humankind and the environment.

Canon believes in making the
world better for future generations. This is what
drives all our philanthropic initiatives — whether
these benefit the environment or our neighbors.
Environmental
Involvement
Canon first
announced its kyosei
corporate philosophy in 1988. Since then, we have
taken the lead in tackling environmental problems.
Our environmental initiatives, including a global
recycling program for cartridges, symbolize our
efforts to realize the
kyosei corporate
philosophy.
The world is undergoing a major transformation from
a "throwaway" to a "recycling" society. Not
satisfied with the progress made to date, Canon is
making progressive efforts for the next generation,
including the creation of a total cyclical system
unifying the development, manufacturing and sales
functions, while supplying products that are
increasingly friendly to the environment.
Canon will continue its quest to become a truly
global corporation by fulfilling its environmental
responsibilities.

Under ISO 14001, Canon is leveraging
environmental management standards that exist to
help organizations minimize how their operations
negatively affect the environment (cause adverse
changes to air, water, or land), comply with
applicable laws, regulations, and other
environmentally oriented requirements, and
continually improve on those established standards.
